IF YOU SUDDENLY STOP RECEIVING MAIL:
TESL-L generates mail every day. If you find that you do not receive mail for two days or more, you can be sure that there is a problem.
After three days of bounced messages, the LISTSERV deletes you fromthe lists, and you will have to rejoin.
IF THE LISTSERV NO LONGER RECOGNIZES YOU AS A SUBSCRIBER
Computer administrators are prone to changing their users' addresses without properly advising them of the consequences. Such new addresses pose no problem for users *receiving* mail since mail addressed the old way is forwarded. However, when users try to send a message to the LISTSERV, the address that arrives on the message no longer matches that of the original subscription, and the message is rejected. If you know how it has been changed, send an address change request to TESLHELP@LISTSERV.CUNY.EDU stating both your OLD address and your NEW one.
Once you have sent in your correction request and received notification from the Listserv that this has been done, send your original Listserv request again. This time it should work! If you do NOT know what your old address was, resubscribe to TESL-L and then use the SCAN command to find your original address. Once you have found it, submit the CHANGE request as described above. (TESLHELP normally responds to requests within 24 hours. You might receive duplicate messages until your old subscription(s) have been changed.)
