Rebecca Farrah Qidwai

 

Rebecca Farrah Qidwai is a writer and lecturer based in New York City. She holds a BA in Ethnic Studies from UC Berkeley, where she completed her honors thesis under the supervision of scholars Elaine Kim and Ronald Takaki. She also holds an MBA in Management, an MFA in Creative Writing, and an MA in Media Studies and Film/Video. She has taught in the Asian American Studies departments of UC Berkeley and Hunter College. Her short fiction has been published in anthologies and literary journals and she has presented her academic writing at various conferences. She is an alumna of Soul Mountain Writer's Retreat and was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Mumbai, India. Her Fulbright research involved deconstructing scopophilic fantasies of the Muslim female body in 1970s and 1980s popular Hindi cinema. She currently teaches Asian American Studies at Hunter College and is working on a novel.
