Linta Varghese, Asian American Studies
Dr. Linta Varghese received her doctorate in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Texas, Austin. Her current scholarly focus includes the South Asian Diaspora, diasporic engagement with home nations, and diasporic philanthropy. She is working on a manuscript titled Economies of Diaspora: The Indian State, Diasporic Entrepreneurs, and Cultures of Neoliberalism, which examines the creation of moral economies by Indian diasporic entrepreneurs who participate in investment and economic privatization in India.
Dr. Varghese's past work focused on South Asian domestic workers in New York City and new forms of immigrant organizing. She has taught courses on Asian diasporas, Asians in the United States, Urban Anthropology, and globalizing American Studies.
