Applied Behavior Analysis — Course of Study
The Applied Behavior Analysis Program at Hunter College consists of five three-credit courses covering a variety of topics in behavior analysis. This course sequence is designed to teach students the technical knowledge needed to deliver high-quality applied behavior analytic interventions to individuals with autism. This sequence of courses meets the course content requirements of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, Inc. and will provide 225 hours of graduate level coursework that is specifically designed to prepare students to serve as professional behavior analysts.
Coursework
The Behavior Analyst Certification Board, Inc. has approved the following course sequence as meeting the coursework requirements for eligibility to take the Board Certified Behavior Analyst Examination. Applicants will have to meet additional requirements to qualify.
- EDABA 795 Applied Behavior Analysis I (3 credits)
- EDABA 796 Applied Behavior Analysis II (3 Credits)
- EDABA 797 Behavior Analysis Research Methods and Ethics (3 Credits)
- EDABA 798 Behavior Analytic Approaches to Learning (3 Credits)
- EDABA 799 Applied Behavior Analytic Autism Intervention (3 Credits)
Duration of Study
Most students complete the ABA course sequence in one to two years. Generally, ABA Program students take one or two courses per term.
Course Scheduling
During the fall and spring terms courses are scheduled one evening per week. During the summer term courses are scheduled two evenings per week. Courses run from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. or from 7:10 p.m. until 9:40 p.m. Course offerings and times for the current academic term can be found in the Hunter College Class Schedule.
Fall courses generally start during the last week of August and run until the third or fourth week of December. Spring courses generally start during the first week of January and continue until the third or fourth week of May. Summer courses start the first week of June and finish in late July.
