Our Mission

The Office of AccessABILITY's goal is to enhance the educational experience for students with disabilities at Hunter College. Our mission is to ensure a comprehensively accessible college experience for all students with disabilities. The program is also committed to promoting access and awareness as a resource to all members of the Hunter College community.

While complying with the letter of the law, the Office of AccessABILITY also embraces its spirit by providing services to all students with permanent or temporary disabilities to ensure that all Hunter College programs and activities are accessible. We work in collaboration with all departments and divisions of the college to facilitate and advocate for our students and, assist students to maximize their potential while helping them develop and maintain independence. Our philosophy is one that promotes self-awareness, self-determination, and self-advocacy in a comprehensively accessible environment.

Dear Faculty, staff and Students:

Starting Monday August 23rd, Office of AccessABILITY will be offering its services both in-person and online. However to be able to adhere to the college and CDC's guidelines, all requests for in-person meetings, use of lab (N-300)and arrangements for testing accommodations must be planned in advance so we will be able to facilaitate appropriate space and staffing. Please use
our staff contact information on the following link To secure appointments with AccessABILITY Counselors. All in- person testing accommodation arrangements will be offered per space availibility and we may request that you show flexibility for date and time of the exams so we can accommodate students properly.

Please note that during fall 2021 semester all in person exam accommodations will be offered during 9- 5 pm via appointments following social distancing requirements. However, remote exam accommodations are offered during 9:00 am-7:00 pm (Monday -Thursdays) and at 9:00-5:00 pm on Fridays. Additionally, during midterms and finals we will be able to proctor online exams from 9am - 9pm.
