Can we measure learning? Yes, if we start with meaningful learning outcome statements
February 19, 2013, 12-2 pm
| Presented by Mosen Auryan Director of Assessment, Co-Director of ACERT |
This session will offer an overview of learning outcomes in the context of pedagogy and attempt to answer three relevant questions:
- Can we measure student learning in a meaningful way?
- Can we rely on learning outcomes without destroying the learning (creative) environment in classrooms?
- Can we (should we) use common learning outcomes in multi-section courses?
The answer to all three questions is ‘yes,’ if (and only if) we use learning outcomes in the context of pedagogy and not as self-evaluation.
