Arts Across the Curriculum - TSC

Facilitated by:
Rebecca Connor, English

Hunter’s Academic Center for Excellence in Research and Teaching (ACERT) and the Arts Across the Curriculum initiative (AAC) invite you to participate in a Teaching Scholarship Circle on integrating the arts across the academic disciplines. In this semester-long series of five seminars, faculty will work together to consider questions like the following:

  • How might you infuse the visual and performing arts, as well as creative writing, into your existing courses at Hunter?
  • How can we use AAC to foster intellectual collaborations across the disciplines?
  • What New York-based artists could you bring in to your courses and workshops?
  • What arts-based events might enliven and engage the larger Hunter community?
  • How can we involve STEM fields in AAC?
  • How can we bring into the classroom the now national discussion (in the New York Times, the New Yorker, the Atlantic, and other publications) about the ways the humanities and the hard sciences can learn important, substantive lessons from one another?
  • What curricular and programmatic enrichments might AAC provide?
  • What AAC competitions and similar projects might we devise that will foster collaborations between faculty and undergraduates?

Though these questions may be adjusted depending on the desires of the group, they give a general overview of the outcomes the Teaching Scholarship Circle will aim to achieve.

We will meet on the following Fridays from 3 – 5pm, in the Provost’s Conference Room (17th floor East).

  • February 28
  • March 14
  • April 11
  • April 25
  • May 9

We encourage you to attend all the sessions, which will build on one another.
