Building on Success in Assessment in the Arts & Sciences
March 27, 2014, 12-2pm
Andy Polsky (Dean of A&S)
Ed Barboni (Acting Assistant Provost for Assessment, Accreditation, and Program Review)
Faculty members throughout the Arts & Sciences have been effectively using assessment strategies for quite some time to learn how our students are developing in their programs. They have also used this knowledge to improve their programs and monitor the success of their program changes. As we take stock of our assessment efforts for our Middle States Periodic Review Report (PRR), we would like to highlight some outstanding examples of assessment in the Arts & Sciences. The following faculty presenters will share their experience and results:
- Scott Gentile (Mathematics)
- Trudy Smoke and Wendy Hayden (English Composition)
- Donna Haverty-Stacke (History)
- Charles Tien (Political Science)
Meredith Reitman (Director of Assessment) will also share highlights of the review she recently completed of assessment in A&S for the PRR.
Andy Polsky (Dean of A&S) and Ed Barboni (Acting Assistant Provost for Assessment, Accreditation, and Program Review) will provide context for their presentations and subsequently build on them by leading a discussion of assessment in A&S historically and into the future.
