Critical thinking to shape the future
October 29, 2013, 12-2 pm
Kenney Robinson, Director of Adolescent & TESOL Clinical Experiences, School of Education
Keith Okrosy, (Career Development Services)
Grounding students in thinking about the future can provide vitality and motivation in classes, while offering opportunities for critical thinking that can be applied to career choices and job applications, as well. In this session, Kenney Robinson and Keith Okrosy will provide insights and experience about the relationship between career development and teaching, and lead a discussion that addresses the following:
- How can motivating students to take ownership of their majors improve performance in the classroom?
- How can we help students to explore different ways of applying their majors and degrees?
- Are there classroom strategies that can help students encapsulate and communicate their college experiences for prospective employers?
- How can collaborations across the college support student career development?
