Even outside the School of Education, many of the students we teach at Hunter are already teachers themselves, or will go on to teach in the near future: as graduate students, as adjuncts, as new professors. How do we teach people to teach? In this presentation, experts from two of the largest departments at Hunter—employing many adjuncts and teaching assistants, and training many future teachers—will share successful methods and strategies for guiding the development of teachers. Trudy Smoke (English) will discuss the training of instructors for the numerous sections of English 120. Virginia Valian and Lynne Kemen (Psychology) will discuss a Teaching of Psychology seminar that the department offers to its graduate students.
