Gail Scovell is the College's counsel and labor designee. She provides legal advice and support on a broad array of issues, such as litigation, employment and labor law, governance, fundraising, and contracts. Her responsibilities include working with attorneys in CUNY's Office of the General Counsel, handling employee grievances, regulatory matters, and administrating and interpreting University bylaws.
Ms. Scovell brings to Hunter a distinguished record of more than 15 years of legal experience. She served as General Counsel for the Guggenheim Museum, overseeing all legal issues for the museum's domestic and international branches. Prior to that, she was an associate at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton where she analyzed complex tax issues for business transactions and handled pro bono cases involving education, housing and environmental conservation.
Ms. Scovell received a BA cum laude from Harvard and a JD cum laude from Harvard Law School.
