As the Executive Director of External Affairs, Doug Jones is responsible for managing Hunter College’s relationships with public officials, public agencies, and community stakeholders. He is also responsible for building key grass roots campaign efforts between the Hunter College community and the neighborhoods in which Hunter’s programs and initiatives are located. Prior to joining Hunter, Mr. Jones worked at the New York City Economic Development Corporation (EDC), where he most recently was the Vice President of Government & Community Relations. At EDC, he was responsible for a team that managed EDC’s relationships with elected officials throughout New York City in order to advance the economic development agenda and priorities of the Office of the Mayor and EDC. Prior to joining EDC, Mr. Jones was the Director of Economic Development at the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. He also served as Program Manager with the Bedford-Stuyvesant office of Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City, Inc. A life-long New Yorker, Mr. Jones received his BA from Morehouse College in Atlanta and his MFA in creative writing from Columbia University. |
