As Senior Vice President & COO, Robert Pignatello oversees Finance & Business Services, Facilities, Human Resources, Public Safety, Information Technology, Continuing Education, Central Reservations and the Kaye Playhouse.  He also is Chair of the Auxiliary Services Board and the Student Tech Fee Committee.

Prior to assuming his position at Hunter, Mr. Pignatello served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at John Jay CUNY where he served at that level for 18 years and had comparable responsibilities.  He led the College's new Building Expansion Project, improved technology services and financial management and revitalized the College’s Theater and performing arts program.  He has also worked with the Central Office and with other CUNY colleges to establish collaborative/shared services, and examine ways to reduce expenses and increase revenues.  His office was the recipient of several CUNY productivity awards. He spearheaded the launch of the first CUNY virtual campus book store. Other efforts include expanding student dormitory facilities, strategic human resource management and increasing employee engagement, and using metrics to improve performance and organizational success.

He holds a BS in Political Science and Public Management from Montclair State University, MPA from Rutgers University, and is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership & Management at St. Peter’s University.

He has also held numerous positions in NJ State, County and Municipal government, including six years as a Councilman, Deputy Mayor and served as the youngest Mayor of Verona.
