Student Life

As a Hunter student, we encourage you to be involved beyond the walls of the classroom. The Hunter campus is a place to explore new passions, meet all different types of people, expand your comfort zone and take risks. We believe in educating by way of human experience and exploring Hunter’s student life is a great way to start.

Clubs & Organizations

Hunter offers more than 100 student run clubs in every area imaginable. Each week we stop all class activity for 2 hours (Dean’s hours) so that you can get involved. Start by getting to know each club during our Welcome Week block party at the start of each academic year.

  • Explore the unlimited possibilities of the many active clubs on campus
  • Be the voice of the campus on our 24 hour student-run online radio station – WHCS.
  • Write for our student-run publications including a newspaper, literary journal and even a comic book.
  • Be a part of (or at least see the benefit of) an influential student government that represents our student body well and increases the quality of our students lives from free coffee/tea to hosting open mic night and multicultural events.

Hunter Athletics

Throughout its existence, the Hunter College athletics program has consistently set high standards for our student athletes, both academically and athletically. The Hawks enjoy a rich history of success having won 132 CUNYAC championships, 27 national championships and produced seven Olympians, 50 All-American athletes in addition to over 1,000 scholar athletes.
