At Hunter College our academic programs cover a wide range of fields. Where students are able to pursue their passion and build a well-rounded foundation. Intellectually exciting and rigorous, these programs lead to degrees in bachelor of arts, bachelor of science, bachelor of fine arts or bachelor of music, as well as 15 dual bachelor’s/master’s programs that prepare students for their future education and careers.

Honors Programs

There are numerous opportunities for Hunter students to participate in rigorous and rewarding honors programs. A Hunter honors student is someone that is searching for an intellectual challenge and motivated to apply their experiences to New York City and the Hunter College community.

Honors Scholar Cohort Programs
These programs are for entering freshmen and are based on their area of interest. Honors Scholars are a member of a community of genuinely curious, dedicated and likeminded students share the same curriculum. We offer six different cohort programs:

  1. Muse – Visual and Performing Arts
  2. Yalow – Scientific Research and/or Medicine
  3. Roosevelt – Civic Issues, Public Policy
  4. Nursing
  5. Athena – Humanities, Philosophy
  6. Daedalus - Computer Science

Macaulay Honors College at Hunter
The mission of Hunter’s Macaulay Honors College is to better serve the educational needs of academically talented and highly motivated students. Macaulay students experience enriched courses where class size is limited and outstanding faculty challenge students to stretch their minds and deepen their learning. Courses are stimulating, challenging, and fun.

Thomas Hunter Honors Program
The THHP is an upper-level interdisciplinary Honors program that provides the opportunity for students to design a personalized interdisciplinary major.

Academic Resources

As a Hunter student, you certainly won’t be accomplishing everything on your own. From tutoring to modern study spaces to professional advisement, we have support systems in place to help you succeed on every level. Below is a sampling of just some of the resources available to our students.

Our main library is nine floors with over 800 thousand books. With a recent multimillion dollar update, our students have access to some of the best resources in town in creative study spaces. Hunter also has other specialty libraries in areas such as Art, Health Professions and Social Work. Still not finding what you are looking for? Career Development Services
One of the best resources on campus, the Career Development Services office provides Hunter students with the preparation they need to further their careers through internships, interview and resume preparation, on-campus workshops and a job search system just for Hunter students.
