1. How do I claim my scholarship?

  • The official scholarship offer must be accepted electronically. Scholarship recipients will receive notifications of their award via email and will need to follow prompts to accept the award.
  • The scholarship is only provided for the offered term and cannot be deferred to a future semester.

2. How do I maintain my scholarship?

  1. File an electronic FAFSA upon acceptance of this scholarship and annually thereafter by February of every academic year.
  2. Maintain the minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 during your enrollment at Hunter College.
  3. Maintain full-time enrollment with a minimum of 12 credits per semester.

3. Where do I see my scholarship?

Your scholarship will be posted in the financial aid section of your CUNYfirst account (see screenshot below). If you are a new student, please note that your scholarship may not appear until the 5th week of classes.

4. How long does it take for the scholarship to be applied to my account each semester?
The committee completes the award verification process once students can no longer add/drop courses, which is usually three-four weeks after the semester start date. Recipients of the scholarship will receive a positive “Do Not Cancel” indicator on their CUNYFirst account while the records are reviewed to make sure you have met all of the requirements. The "Do Not Cancel" indicator prevents course cancellation until assigned expiration date. Additionally, the scholarship may show as “pending” until the 9th week of classes.

5. My scholarship has not been posted to my account yet and my bill is due, what do I do?
While you wait for us to review your record, please pay your bill minus your scholarship amount. If for some reason you do not meet the requirements to continue receiving your scholarship, you will be responsible for the balance.

6. Do I have to reapply to receive the scholarship each semester?
No. You do not have to reapply for your scholarship each semester.

7. Can I apply for the scholarship as a current student who transfered to Hunter before?
No. The scholarship is for new incoming students only.

8. What if I have been selected for Financial Aid verification and cannot complete it before semester starts?
Students who need to submit additional documents for the Financial Aid Verifictaion process will not see the award on their CUNYFirst account until two weeks after the verification is complete. The award will be posted once the verification process is finalized.
