Admissions Requirements

No matter where students apply from, every Hunter College applicant is held to the same admissions standards and follow the same application steps. Our admissions process does not change based on your country of origin or visa status. 


How to apply?

The general Hunter College admission application is filed online through the City University of New York (CUNY). To start your application, please visit

Are you a freshmen applicant? Are you a transfer applicant?
You should submit a Freshman Application if you are a senior in high school or a high school equivalency graduate who has not enrolled in another college or university. You should submit a transfer application if you have attended another college or university, seeking a second Bachelor's degree, or you are a current Non-Degree student at Hunter looking to matriculate.



How to learn about the application process?

Office of Undergraduate Admissions is excited to offer you many opportunities to get to know Hunter College better. What to know about getting your student visa?

Students need to be accepted to Hunter College prior to starting their visa applications. After you have been admitted to Hunter College, the next step to studying in the United States is to apply for the appropriate visa at the American Embassy in your country.
