Readmission

What is re-admission?

If you previously took courses as a degree student, non-degree student, or senior auditor at Hunter College and have not been in attendance for one or more semesters, you are required to submit a readmission application.

 


 

Admissions requirements

 

In general, students that left Hunter in good standing (2.0 GPA and above) are approved for readmission. Students who do not meet this criteria will be reviewed on a case by case basis.



How to apply

Applying for readmission is easy:

Step 1 - Submit a Readmission Application

Step 2 - Request for official electronic transcripts from all undergraduate colleges attended since leaving Hunter College to be sent to documents@hunter.cuny.edu.

 


Application Fee

There is a one-time fee of $20 that will be added to your tuition bill at the time of registration. Please do not send the application fee when filing your application.

 


Application Priority Deadlines

Fall Semester - May 1
Winter Session - October 1
Spring Semester - November 1
Summer Session - March 15

Applications submitted after the priority deadline will be considered based on space availability on rolling basis. All admissions decisions will be sent via email.

 


Former Degree Students

Students will be admitted back into their last declared major, provided they were in good academic standing (2.0 grade point average or higher). Students with grade point averages below 2.0, if readmitted, will have to redeclare a major.

Students whose last attendance were in any of the following majors will be readmitted to the School of Arts and Sciences and must meet with a departmental advisor to seek approval to return to their previous major:

Medical Laboratory Science
Nutrition and Food Science
Community Health
Post Baccalureate Program in Health Careers Preparation (no longer active)
Nursing

Once re-admitted, all students should obtain academic advising and make an appointment with their advisor by contacting the Office of Academic Advising, Room 1119 East at (212) 772-4882 or advising@hunter.cuny.edu

 


Former SEEK Students

SEEK students who have not been in attendance for four or more semesters and/or have been in the SEEK program for ten semesters or more, need special permission to return to SEEK. Students with less than 60 credits who do not wish to return to SEEK must obtain a release from the Director of the SEEK program. Visit the SEEK website for more details.

 


Former Non-Degree Students

Non-degree students must either matriculate or leave the college when they have attempted 24 credits. Baccalaureate, Master's and Doctoral degree holders from a college or university accredited by a regional U.S. accrediting association are exempt from the 24 credit limit, provided proof of a completed degree is submitted along with their application.

Students will not be readmitted to non-degree status if they have already completed 12 credit hours and have not demonstrated basic level of competence in reading, writing and math. Please see the CUNY Proficiency Requirements to learn how to satisfy the reading, writing and math competencies.



Former Senior Auditors

If you previously took courses and received grades at Hunter College and have not been in attendance for one or more semesters, you are required to submit a readmission application.
