Friends Of the Library
General Information
The Friends of the Hunter College Library was formed in 1990 to ensure the continued strength of Hunter College's four-library system — the Jacqueline Grennan Wexler Library, the Health Professions Library, the School of Social Work Library and the Art Slide Library.
The Friends provide vital annual support for the Hunter College Library. The funds raised through contributions, membership dues and special events enable the Library to expand the educational resources offered to students, including books, journals, reference materials, faculty lectures, videos and CDs, Internet access, electronic databases and on-line research materials.
Members have the opportunity to hear a variety of published writers and other distinguished personalities. Past lecturers have included Henry Louis Gates, Jr., Chang-rae Lee, Cynthia Ozick, Evan Hunter/Ed McBain, Nobel laureate Rosalyn Yalow, Hugh Downs, Lillian Vernon and Letty Cottin Pogrebin, to name just a few. Friends also have access to the many library resources they have helped to support.
