North Atlantic Biocultural Organization (NABO)

NABO

NABO is an interdisciplinary, international, non-governmental regional research cooperative that works to serve scholars interested in the interactions of humans and changing landscapes across this broad and critical region. Organized in 1992, NABO works to connect distant scholars with each other and to connect natural and social sciences in cooperative investigation of the human dimensions of global change. NABO coordinates workshops, student training & exchange, publications, geochronology and bioarchaeological analysis, and practical cooperation in fieldwork and laboratory. NABO is supported by grants from the UK., US, and Scandinavia and currently has over 200 active members from 46 institutions in ten nations. Nabo means neighbor in several Scandinavian languages, and we maintain a tradition of neighborly cooperation and mutual assistance on all levels.
