Overview of Research
Ignasi Clemente, Ph.D. is an anthropologist and a linguist. He teaches at Hunter College and is also Honorary Senior Research Associate at the Louis Dundas Centre for Children’s Palliative Care, Institute of Child Health, University College London. His research includes childhood studies; chronic illness, communication and culture in the care of disabled, chronically and terminally ill children; psychosocial approaches to pain and suffering; applied work in healthcare communication; and multimodality and corporeality. His book, Uncertain Futures: Communication and Culture in Childhood Cancer Treatment (Wiley Blackwell) was awarded the 2017 Modest Reixach Book Prize from the Catalan Society of Sociolinguistics.
