MFA Students

We are so excited to meet you and to welcome to our program!  Here are a few things you should keep in mind as your prepare to start the MFA Program

  • #1 Download the Welcome Handbook- it will walk you through everything you need to know
  • #2 set up your CUNYfirst account
  • #3 claim your email account all important scholarship, financial aid, and academic information will be sent to your @myhunter.cuny.edu email address.  If you don't check it at least once in a while you could be missing out on money and maybe even notices that tell you something is wrong with your account and you can't graduate.
  • Join the MFASO listserve: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mfastudentorg/
    This listserve is where everyone shares important bits of information with each other (alumni and current students) such as housing, studio, and job opportunities
  • Be sure you have completed your Immunization Requirements (you really cannot register without them).
  • Pre-registration will take place in May/June for incoming Fall students or December for incoming Spring students.  Our office will contact you via email a month or so before your preregistration date to set up an appointment time.  You can keep an eye on the course descriptions and schedules to see what is available, but be sure to have a back up plan.  Pre-registration times are based on senority, meaning incoming students register last.
  • Tim Laun, the head of the MFA Building will contact you (mfabuilding@hunter.cuny.edu) a month or so prior to your arrival to set up a studio allocation meeting.  Here you will be assigned your studio and you will get to know the rules of the building.
