Omer Fast was born in Jerusalem, Israel. He received his BFA from Tufts University, School of the Museum of Fine Arts in 1995 and an MFA from Hunter College in 2000. Fast uses his films to explore the various possibilities offered by cinematic medium, such as emotions and private stories with public concerns. His videos address the postmodern preoccupation with the misrepresentations inherent to documentary film and the fluid, unreliable nature of history. His work has been exhibited at the Postmasters Gallery, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the 2002 Whitney Biennial in New York. Fast has exhibited his work internationally at Copenhagen Contmeporary Art Center, Spazio d’Arte Contemporanea in Milan and London’s Institute of International Visual Arts. Omer Fast currently lives and works in Berlin.
