Julia Jacquette received her BS from Skidmore College and an MFA from Hunter College in 1992. In her paintings, Jacquette explores the subject of longing and rejection. "In my artwork I speak about desire, desire for a glamour that is, in fact, unattainable—the product of art directors and magazine editors. Yet the images I take from the media and depict in my work are undeniably appealing to me." Jacquette's work has been exhibited in New York City at the Moma, Holly Soloman Gallery and Micheal Steinberg Fine Art, as well as at Judy Ann Goldman Fine Art in Boston, and Galerie Oliver Schweden in Munich. She was the recipient of the Pollack/Krasner Grant in 1998. Jacquette currently teaches at the Rhode Island School of Design and Princeton University. Julia Jacquette is based in New York City.
