Artists Experiment is a new initiative in the Department of Education that brings together contemporary artists in dialogue with MoMA educators to conceptualize ideas for developing innovative and experimental public interactions. Learn more
The Contemporary Art Forum presents timely and innovative programs (lectures, conversations, and performances) that address pressing issues in contemporary art, and grow out of discussions with MoMA curators. Participants include artists and designers, critics, curators, and scholars, among others.
This half-day conference explores the curative properties of engaging with and making objects. Looking at the work of contemporary artists and the larger field of art therapy, the program delves into our relationship with objects through the lenses of anthropology, psychology, therapy, and the arts. Participants include scholars Michael Taussig and Cynthia Hahn; artists Allison Smith and Dario Robleto; Glenn Adamson from the Museum of Arts and Design and Tim McHenry from the Rubin Museum of Art; and others. This program is organized in collaboration with Allison Smith as part of Artists Experiment.
Artists Experiment is made possible by an endowment established by The Junior Associates of The Museum of Modern Art.
Tickets ($15; $10 members and corporate members; $5 students, seniors, and staff of other museums) can be purchased online or at the information desk, the Film desk, and on the day of the program after 11.30 am.
