Centered on the notion of transition, awkward phase is a two-day pop-up show in Williamsburg. Emboldened by a juvenile, experimental feel, these works occupy a space that challenges an aesthetic of desperate visual grasping and the idea that “everything goes.”They exist in a time and/or space between semi-figurative and semi-abstract and yield to a sense of hysteria, awkwardness and excitement, a state reminiscent of teenage life and culture.
The opening reception will be Friday, May 30th, 6pm - 9pm, and The closing reception will be the following day, Saturday, May 31st, 6pm - 9pm. Artists in the show include: Agathe Snow, Joe Bradley, David Humphrey, Lisa Corinne Davis, Natalie Frank, Tim Davis, Lisa Sanditz, Emily Iambert, Sara Greenberger Rafferty, Aaron Johnson, Alexi Worth, Tamara Gonzales, Justin Pollmann, Scott Reeder, Tom Sanford, Jeremy Willis, Steve DiBenedetto, Bryan Zanisnik, Lucas Moran, William Suran, David Melrose, Justin Craun, Michelle Segre, Alexandra Thake, and Jennifer Coates.
