Dr. Nancy Foner Speaks to La Opinión and BBC Radio 4 on the Topic of US Immigrant Communities

Professor Nancy Foner, of the Sociology Department, was recently interviewed by La Opinión, the largest Spanish-language daily newspaper in the country, for her views on the status of undocumented immigrants who are currently residing in the United States. Dr. Foner noted that more than half of the 11.1 million undocumented immigrants have been in the US for at least a decade, are productive members of their communities, and commit fewer crimes than those born in the country, but that they now "live with the fear that only a minor infraction, such as not stopping at a red light, will cause them to be deported."

Foner was also interviewed by BBC Radio 4 on the topic of Guyanese immigrants living in the United States. Portions of the interview were used  in a documentary, Neither Here Nor There, which will be broadcast on the BBC Radio 4 network on February 28.
