Librarian and THHP Graduate Nili Ness Featured in 'QNS' Online Magazine Article

Nili Ness, who graduated from the Thomas Hunter Honors Program in 2009 with a major in Media Studies, was featured in a recent article on the QNS.com website  https://qns.com/story/2018/08/02/queens-librarian-gives-inmates-rikers-island-gift-written-word/, a publication which highlights news in the borough of Queens. The article discusses the role Ness fills as "Queens Library's first and only correctional services librarian," a role "which has allowed her to serve Rikers Island inmates."  According to the article, "Ness became inspired to work as a librarian after substituting for one at Hunter College High School for a semester. Following that experience, she applied to Queens College’s Graduate School of Library and Information Studies and explored the topic of services to incarcerated youth. From there she said she became drawn to learning about underserved populations and served as a part-time correctional services assistant, which eventually led her to her current role."
