PURPOSE
The Student Athletic Advisory Committee serves to build a sense of school pride among students throughout Hunter College, beginning with our athletes, extending this pride and spirit to the rest of the student population, and finally affecting the larger community in which we live.

SAAC also attempts to enable communication between student-athletes and administration. SAAC represents the student-athletic population, with a minimum of one student representative from each team. We address issues or problems that concern Hunter Athletics and discuss it with administration.

Our purpose will be accomplished by bringing together athletes through social events, friendly competition, volunteering and community activities. These events will help build a strong community among athletes within the Athletic Department and give student athletes a voice within their school, their administration, and their community at large.

First Annual Halloween Party!
On Friday, October 27, 2006 the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) organized a Halloween Party for all of Hunter College Athletes. The event began at around 7 pm and lasted for approximately two hours.

Activities throughout the night included a mummy wrapping contest and bobbing for gummy worms in chocolate pudding. Most of the participants wore costumes There was a variety of pirates, gangsters, prom queens, and fairies.

Together, all of them enjoyed soda, chips, candy, and of course good music with a lot of picture-taking. This event surely achieved the goal of bringing athletes from different teams together into a closely knit community!

SAAC Roller Derby
(Oct. 20, 2006) - The Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) has entered its seventh year in existence at Hunter College. SAAC plans on getting involved in community service events, fundraising events and attending national conventions. The 2006 – 2007 SAAC Team aims to improve the athletic community, foster real communication between athletes and administration and promote a positive image of Hunter Athletics.

On Friday, October 13, 2006 the Hunter College Athletic Program hosted the Roller Derby semifinals that drew a crowd of over 1,000 fans! SAAC held its first fundraiser at this event.

Representatives from many of Hunter’s teams helped out. They included swimming, women’s volleyball, wrestling, men’s volleyball, cross-country, track and field, and women’s fencing. It was an evening full of entertainment for SAAC because it gave these athletes a perfect opportunity to bond and get to know each other.
