Prof. Pedro López Adorno |
Professor López Adorno has been teaching at the college level since 1980. His areas of expertise are Latin American poetry; contemporary Caribbean literature in Spanish; Puerto Rican literature from colonial times to the present; Latino literature in the US; and literary criticism and theory related to the above. He has been a member of the Department since 1987. He served as director of the Puerto Rican/Latino Studies Sequence (1996-2002) and is a member of the Hunter College Senate and of the Department’s Personnel and Budget Committee and Curriculum Review Committee.
As a poet he is considered a key voice within the generation of Latin American poets born after 1950. His work is included in a number of important anthologies. He is the author of thirteen books and of numerous articles. His most recent books are: La ciudad prestada (2002); Arte de cenizas (2004); and Opera ardiente (2006). He co-founded and directed Tercer Milenio, an annual review of Latin American contemporary literature (1994-1997).
