Hunter College Brothers for Excellence

Brothers For Excellence at Hunter College is a student-centered program, open to all but focused on helping Black and Latino males become successful graduates  We are also committed to retaining and increasing the academic achievement of the participating members. To do this, we offer our students academic scholarships and support services such as structured mentoring, tutoring, counseling, and access to dormitories.  In addition, we expose high school students to the BMI as a way to encourage them to apply to attend Hunter College.  Over 50% of our students have GPA's of B+ or better, and that number grows larger every year!

If you are a member of the Hunter College faculty or staff, or if you are a Hunter College graduate, you are more than welcome to join the Hunter College BMI family.  You can serve as a mentor, speaker, tutor, or role model.  If interested, please contact the BMI Coordinator, Dr. Collin Craig, at (212) 650-3458.  If you would like to receive the many opportunities being offered to members of the Brothers For Excellence, please email cc1575@hunter.cuny.edu and the project coordinator will add you to our list-serv.

On this site, you can read testimonies of students who have been a part of the Hunter BMI community, find links to our events, and discover information on various programs offering academic support.  We hope to see you at one of our weekly meetings at 695 Park Avenue in Room E1218 every Wednesday from 1 pm to 3 pm.  Food (with vegan options) is always provided!

All programs and activities of Brothers for Excellence are open to all academically eligible students, faculty and staff, without regard to race, gender, national origin or other characteristics.
