The Hunter College Residence Hall is located on the College's Brookdale Campus at 425 East 25th Street, New York, NY 10010 in Downtown Manhattan. The Residence Hall contains over 600 rooms.

Applications

The Office of Residence Life accepts applications for the Fall term in March so students can receive acceptance notices by mid-June. They accept applications for the Spring term in November so students can receive acceptance notices by December.

Due to the overwhelming demand for affordable housing in New York City, the Office of Residence Life receives far more requests for housing than can be fulfilled. Students who are not accepted are placed on a wait list.

All requests for additional information about the Brookdale Residence Hall and application statuses should be made directly to the Brookdale Residence Life Office at (212) 481 - 4310 or reslife@hunter.cuny.edu. The Bursar's Office processes payments and distributes refunds for Brookdale residents. The Bursar's Office does not handle application decisions or initiate refunds.

Room Charges

All room fees and charges are per student per semester.

Dorm charges are subject to change without notice as approved by the City University of New York (CUNY) Board of Trustees. In the event of an increase, payments already made will be treated as a partial payment. Notification will be given to students concerning the amount owed and the deadline date to pay.

Fees

All students must pay a $150 Security Deposit. This includes students in special programs and on scholarships; no exceptions. The security deposit is refundable at the end of the student's stay, providing that the dorm room is in good condition.

Payment Billing

The Office of the Bursar will bill students for their room. Payment by the deadline is imperative to avoid losing your room and being evicted from the Residence Hall. Your dorm room charges will NOT appear on your tuition and fee bill.

Payment Options

• Cash: Accepted IN PERSON at our cashier windows ONLY. Please see cashier services for more information.
• Personal Checks: Accepted at our cashier windows or through the mail. Please be sure to include your full name and the last four digits of your student ID# on your check.
• Money Order: Accepted at our cashier windows or through the mail. Please be sure to include your full name and the last four digits of your student ID# on your money order.
• Credit Cards: Accepted IN PERSON at our cashier windows or via fax. The College accepts VISA, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. (Please note that VISA is accepted for dorm payments only; it is not accepted for tuition and fee payments made online.)
• Wire Payments: An EFT (electronic funds transfer) payment can be made to the College's bank account.
  
• TuitionPay Payment Plan: The College offers a 4 month TuitionPay Payment Plan through Sallie Mae for dorm residents who are attending Hunter College. Bellevue nurses cannot participate in this plan. The College offers dorm residents a plan for the Fall and a plan for the Spring. Fall payment plans begin in July and Spring plans begin in December. Please visit www.tuitionpay.com for more information or call (866) 267-CUNY.
  
• Financial Aid/Scholarships: This option is available to students who have enough funds available on their student account to cover their tuition and fee bill and their dorm bill. Students MUST sign a power of attorney form to use this option to settle their dorm bill.

Fines and Penalties

All bills must be settled prior to the student moving into their room. If students owe funds for fees or fines, the Bursar's Office places an 'M' stop on their eSIMS account. This stop prevents students from acquiring their student records, registering for an upcoming term and acquiring any official Hunter College documents including transcripts, grades, etc.
