Certificate in Medical Coding and Billing

Program Description: The Certificate in Medical Coding and Billing is designed for students who wish to acquire a thorough understanding of human anatomy, the language used in the medical profession, regulations that govern the practice of medicine, and the knowledge of how to correctly code and bill for services provided. The need for medical records and health information technicians is growing in leaps and bounds, requiring trained professionals capable of correctly coding and documenting new and established procedures to pass potential audits by federal as well as private insurance payers. This program consists of 5 required courses which must be taken in the following order: Medical Terminology, ICD-10 Coding, CPT-4 Coding and Medical Billing Course with Practicum. ‘Regulations’ can be taken at any time. In addition to the classroom hours, our Medical Coding and Billing students will have access to an 80-hour online training available through the American Association of Professional Coders. Combined Certificate in Outpatient and Inpatient Medical Billing
|
Program Description: This program begins with an overview of coding and billing for hospital services. The first course is focused specifically on outpatient coding and billing. The second course covers coding and billing for inpatient services. Students will further develop proficiency in basic coding and billing skills while expanding knowledge of technical services in coding and billing, as well as gain insight into guidelines and principles for facility inpatient and outpatient coding and billing, including assigning ICD-10-CM diagnostic codes, ICD-10-CM procedure codes, and CPT & HCPCS procedure codes in multiple inpatient and outpatient settings. Certificate in Medical Interpreter

Program Description: The Certificate in Medical Interpreter is a 48-hour certificate program in Health Care and Social Services Interpreting. The program covers basic & advanced interpreting skills, medical terminology, Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, cross-cultural communication, memory development and note-taking, intonation makeover for less accented speech and the U.S. healthcare system. By successfully completing this program, the student will meet a key prerequisite of National Certification for Medical Interpreters. Optional 150-hour Shadowing Practicum at one of the NYC area hospitals is available upon successful completion of the 48-hour program.
