Certificate in TESOL
Program Description: This intensive teaching certificate program prepares participants to teach students whose skills range from beginning or low literacy to college/university levels. Classes integrate theory and teaching practice in an ESOL classroom enabling teacher-trainees to apply what they have learned immediately. The certificate consists of 8 required courses. A detailed certificate brochure is available on our website, at our open house and in our office Native speakers of English should have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university. Applicants with at least 60 college credits will be considered. Non-native speakers of English must demonstrate oral competency and score at least 80 on the TOEFL exam, including at least a 20 on the verbal section. IELTS score of 6.5-7.0+ is accepted in place of TOEFLibt. All applicants must complete the online application form, including a 300-word writing sample explaining your interest in teaching ESL, and email a college transcript. Prospective students should be aware that this program does not certify teachers to teach ESL in U.S. public schools. Students learning under an F-1 visa must complete the entire program, including observing hours, in one semester to meet the 18/hours a week required by law to maintain their visa status.BROCHURE |
