Our partner, Academic Approach, provides instruction for middle school students who are preparing for their high school entrance application processes. The program consists of 24-hours of live, online classroom instruction and is designed to prepare students who are applying to a variety of selective high schools, ranging from Specialized High Schools in the New York City DOE to some of the most rigorous private day school and boarding schools in the country.

Our High School Entrance Exam Test Prep program familiarizes students with the content and skills that are included in several High School Entrance Exams (HSEEs) including:

    • New York CIty Specialized High School Admissions Test (SHSAT)
    • Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE)
    • SSAT
    • TACHS
    • Catholic High School Entrance Exams

In order to sharpen middle school students’ educational and testing skills, Academic Approach draws its learning techniques from its own in-house materials. These manuals contain hundreds of pages of middle school test prep lessons, exercises, and a supplemental vocabulary builder. Our course includes three simulated practice tests which are taken via Zoom and administered by a live, online proctor. The practice tests are centered around multiple high school entrance exams.

We understand that many middle school test prep classes will be composed of students applying to more than one type of school. This is why our programs are built in a way to boost High School Entrance Exam skills appropriately and effectively for any high school path that a student wishes to take. All our classes are taken via Zoom and include interactive participation, digital whiteboards, and the option to meet with the instructor or Lead Director of Student Success outside of practice tests or classroom hours.

Our expertise in the variety of skills and strategies appropriate to each of the different High School Entrance Exams, and our commitment to teaching beyond the test means that the skills students develop in our course will support their classroom work and set them up for success at the high school of their choice!
