Legal Assistant Certificate
This program is designed for both beginning and experienced assistants who would like to improve their skills, preparing students for employment opportunities as Legal Assistants in law firms, corporate legal departments, government agencies, banks, legal aid societies, and federal and state courts. This Program consists of 6 required courses plus 3 electives.

Registration and Tuition: This course consists of 6 required courses and 3 electives. Tuition is $3700 plus one time $20 registration fee, or you can register for each course individually with a $20 registration fee per semester. To register online for courses please click on the Course Browser/Registration.
Note for those registering online: Please call our office at 212.650.3850 to select classes you are taking per semester. Please be aware that you are registering for the certificate and that you still need to call/come in to the office to choose the classes. If you wish to do a Payment Plan, please come to our office E1022 ( Mon-Fri 9am-5pm).
Certificate Requirements: Complete all required courses within two years, plus three electives. Most courses have exams and or presentations. You can expect to study approximately 3-5 hours/week for each course. This course presumes a basic knowledge of word processing and a typing proficiency of at least 50 words per minute. Basic word processing and typing skills will not be covered in this course.
After having successfully completed the program, students receive a certificate and transcript issued by Continuing Education. Students’ progress is measured through examinations, research and writing assignments, and classroom participation. A grade of A, B, or C is required in each course certification. A passing grade is 73=C.
If a student fails a course, CE will send him or her a letter to retake the course, free of charge, within one year. This privilege can only be exercised once for the duration of the program. If a student is unable to complete or has to drop a course, please state the reason in writing and send to Continuing Education. With all retakes, the registration fee must be paid, if applicable, when registering.
