Legal Studies

Whether you are interested in a career as a Paralegal or preparing to apply for Law School, our Legal Studies Certificate program will help you achieve your goal.

Program Objectives

  • To encourage students to continue one's education in law, either by preparing the student for applying to and attending law school or for developing a paralegal career.
  • To encourage and nurture educational growth in love and knowledge of law, comfort level in the study of law, and belief of one's own opportunities and potential.
  • To provide attention and mentoring, for as much or as little as needed.
  • To appreciate that students are self-motivated and are investing both time and resources to be in the program; that they are already balancing both a home life and work life prior to entering the program.

Paralegals may not provide legal services directly to the public except as permitted by law.

Is this program approved by the American Bar Association (ABA)? What does ABA approval mean? The ABA, for a fee, approves programs that meet certain standards relating to how a program is administered. Most ABA approved paralegal programs are credit based, associate degree level. Pursuing ABA approval would have forced us to increase the price of our tuition and expand our course offerings to meet ABA requirements. Although our Legal Studies and Legal Assistant programs are not ABA-approved, we have an excellent reputation for offering high quality non-credit, continuing education courses that prepare students for paralegal jobs in a short amount of time and at an affordable price which is our commitment to our students. Our graduates have reported success even without ABA approval of our program.

Ellen Sandhaus, a graduate of our Legal Studies Program, says "I never would have applied or gotten an interview for my new paralegal job at the Legal Aid Society if I hadn’t taken Legal Research and Writing and Drafting Legal Instruments."
