Continuing Education at Hunter College offers workshops for nurses in partnership with the Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing Institute of Continuing Education.

Mission
The Institute of Continuing Education's mission is to facilitate lifelong learning by continuing to meet the educational needs of professional nurses and prepare them to meet the 21st century needs of complex populations, particularly in urban settings.

The Institute of Continuing Education offers conferences, workshops and short non-credit courses on a wide variety of nursing and health related topics.

Goals
The goals of the Educational Provider Unit are consistent with the goals and mission of Hunter College:

  • To encourage the fullest possible intellectual and personal growth in each individual.
  • To develop an individual's rational, critical and creative powers.
  • To inspire a zest for learning as well as to bring the recognition that learning is pleasurable and knowledge is useful.

Accreditation
The Institute of Continuing Education is approved by the Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing, Hunter College, City University of New York, an accredited provider of continuing nursing education by the New York State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

The Hunter Bellevue School of Nursing for Continuing Education is committed to working with the nursing community to promote and disseminate nursing knowledge, and to further excellence in nursing practice.

 

Upcoming Nursing Events:

Leadership Institute for Nurses in Correctional Settings (LINCS)

August 16 - 18, 2011, 8:30am - 3:30pm

This Institute is designed to provide contemporary leadership and management principles to nurses in correctional agencies/organizations. Participants will learn to define the core leadership competencies of nurses practicing in correctional settings, in addition to taking an in-depth look at the  contemporary leadership and management principles guiding correctional leadership and management.
