French/Spanish Placement Examinations

Upcoming Placement Exam Dates & Times:

About the Test:

The Placement Exam for both French & Spanish is approximately one hour long. It consists of numerous short answer questions on a computer in addition to a writing sample (please bring paper and pen). The exam is not given by appointment. You are welcome to walk in within the 2 hour time frame, but allow yourself enough time to finish before the time at which the exam ends. The exam is administered on a first-come first-serve basis. If all the computer stations are in use when you arrive, please be prepared to wait.

Italian Placement Examination:

Please e-mail Professor Alicia Ramos at rosramos@hunter.cuny.edu to make arrangements to take the Placement Exam in Italian.  The Italian Placement Exam will take place during the same scheduled dates and times listed above.

Location:

All examinations are held in the Chanin Language Center (209 Hunter West). 

Who should take the test?

Hunter students who need to fulfill the language requirement are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity as well as those who;

• have had between one and three years of language in high school.
• have had some time pass since their last foreign language course.
• have some knowledge of language but never studied it formally.
• have had additional exposure to the language through family, school, travel or work connections.

Please remember to bring your Hunter ID card.

Results:

Results are usually posted within two days of the test on the Department of Romance Languages Bulletin Board, opposite Room 1343 Hunter West.  Please DO NOT call the Chanin Language Center for your results.
