Arabic Major

Hunter students can Major in Arabic Language and Culture.  The Major consists of 27-33 credits, depending on whether you are a heritage or non-heritage learner and on how many Arabic classes you place out of.

For the typical heritage learner, the major is 30 credits and consists of the following classes:

ARB 14800
ARB 15000
ARB 24800
ARB 30100
ARB 30200
ARB 40100
ARB 49000

1 Elective course (in Arabic) at the 300 level or above.
2 Elective courses (in English) at the 200 level or above. 

Total credits:  30

 

For the typical non-heritage learner, the major is 33 credits and consists of the following classes:

ARB 10100
ARB 10200
ARB 15000
ARB 20100
ARB 20200
ARB 30100
ARB 30200
ARB 40100
ARB 49000

1 Elective course (in Arabic) at the 300 level or above.
1 Elective course (in English) at the 200 level or above. 

Total credits:  33

 

Please note that the following classes must be taken in sequence:  ARB 10100, 10200, 20100, 20200 (ARB 14800 and 24800 for heritage learners), 30100, 30200, 40100, and 49000.
