EVENTS: Every Spring, we invite a
prominent Classicist to speak at our Earle Lecture. Faculty, students, and
friends from the entire metropolitan area come to hear and honor our
speaker. See Earle
Lecturers.
STUDENT
AWARDS AND PRIZES: Given to our outstanding students in Classics and Archaeology on
the occasion of the Earle Lecture (see Events above). These awards/prizes
are made possible by the generous contributions of alumnae/i of the Classics Division. See Award
Recipients.
ARCHAEOLOGY
CLUB:
The club sponsors lectures and field trips to museums outside of New York City. In the
past, the club has traveled to Philadelphia,
Boston, Princeton, Newark,
and Boston
to visit the archaeological collections in the museums of these cities.
FACILITIES: The Wexler Library (entrance
on the third floor of the East Building at Hunter College); the Classics
Library/Conference Room (on the 13th floor of the West Building); and the Chanin Learning Center (entrance on the second floor of
the West Building at Hunter College).
Faculty offices are
located primarily on the 14th floors of the West Building, and most
Classics courses are taught in the same building.
WONDERFUL
PLACES TO VISIT IN THE NEW YORK METROPOLITAN REGION: Metropolitan Museum of Art, Brooklyn
Museum of Art, American Numismatic Society, Pierpont Morgan Library, The
New York Public Library on 42nd Street and 5th Avenue.
