EVENTS, STUDENT AWARDS, AND PRIZES, ARCHAEOLOGY CLUB, FACILITIES, AND PLACES TO VISIT

EVENTS: Every Spring, we invite a prominent Classicist to speak at our Earle Lecture. Faculty, students, and friends from the entire metropolitan area come to hear and honor our speaker. See Earle Lecturers.

STUDENT AWARDS AND PRIZES: Given to our outstanding students in Classics and Archaeology on the occasion of the Earle Lecture (see Events above). These awards/prizes are made possible by the generous contributions of alumnae/i of the Classics Division. See Award Recipients.

ARCHAEOLOGY CLUB: The club sponsors lectures and field trips to museums outside of New York City. In the past, the club has traveled to Philadelphia, Boston, Princeton, Newark, and Boston to visit the archaeological collections in the museums of these cities.

FACILITIES: The Wexler Library (entrance on the third floor of the East Building at Hunter College); the Classics Library/Conference Room (on the 13th floor of the West Building); and the Chanin Learning Center (entrance on the second floor of the West Building at Hunter College).

Faculty offices are located primarily on the 14th floors of the West Building, and most Classics courses are taught in the same building.

WONDERFUL PLACES TO VISIT IN THE NEW YORK METROPOLITAN REGION: Metropolitan Museum of Art, Brooklyn Museum of Art, American Numismatic Society, Pierpont Morgan Library, The New York Public Library on 42nd Street and 5th Avenue.
