Hunter College President Jennifer Raab (right) and IBM's General Manager of North America Bridget van Kralingen discuss the need for a renewed focus on public-private partnerships to increase the United States' global competitiveness at a forum hosted by IBM and the Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute at Hunter College, Thursday, December 8, 2011 in NYC. The attendees discussed how public-private partnerships, such as the implementation of the Social Security Act and its use of IBM punch cards, pushed the country into new frontiers of science and social policy. IBM's van Kralingen told attendees innovations from IBM's Watson system could help further improve collaboration.
