A Crowning Achievement for Hunter

It’s another banner year as Hunter’s national reputation remains on the rise in 2018. This year, the Princeton Review hailed the College as “the crown jewel of the CUNY system,” and once again named Hunter as one of the “Best Colleges” in the country in its Best 384 Colleges guide. We’re also on its honor roll of “Colleges That Create Futures” and “Colleges That Pay You Back.”

More good news: Hunter continued its steady climb in in US News and World Report’s annual rankings. After jumping from 42nd to 28th last year, Hunter moved up again this fall, now ranking 25th  among the magazine’s “Best Regional Universities, North” and 6th among public colleges on that list.

And Hunter has been recognized for its longstanding legacy as an institution where the American Dream comes true. For nearly 150 years, Hunter has opened doors of opportunity for students from all walks of life, providing an outstanding education that propels students out of poverty and into the middle class. Drawing on research by Stanford economics professor Raj Chetty, The Chronicle of Higher Education evaluated schools based on how well they helped graduates whose parents were in the bottom 20 percent of income earners reach the top 20 percent for individual earning. Hunter ranked 8th among all public four-year universities in the entire country on this measure, with a bigger positive impact on social mobility than Harvard, Yale and Princeton.
