For Hunter, A New Year Brings A New High Ranking by U.S. News & World Report

The start of the 2014-15 academic year brings the annual, much anticipated publication of U.S. News & World Report's Best Colleges.

Once again, Hunter is recognized for its excellence, its affordability, and a study body as diverse as the population of the New York metropolitan area.

Among public universities serving the country's Northern region, Hunter ranks high on the U.S. News list. Specifically, Hunter was ranked:

#12 for overall academic excellence, based on up to 16 indicators, including freshman retention rate, graduation rate and strength of the faculty

#5 for ethnic diversity

Among all universities (both public and private) serving the Northern region, Hunter ranks in the top 8 percent for overall educational excellence.

With these rankings, U.S. News echoes President Barack Obama's assessment of Hunter. In a White House speech on January 9, 2014, while honoring a Hunter student who had overcome adversity and exhibited great academic promise, the president called Hunter "one of the best colleges in the country."
