Hunter College Statement on the Presidential Election

The recently concluded Presidential election has generated strong views and emotions across our campus, our city and our country. The words of Ralph Waldo Emerson as inscribed on the wall of the Hunter North Building for the last 76 years state our proud tradition, which guides us even in these challenging times: “We are of different opinions at different hours but we always may be said to be at heart on the side of truth.”

We welcome all to reflect on the outcome and to constructively share thoughts, views and ideas. At the same time, we must continue to respect members of our community and celebrate our diversity. We affirm our commitment to the free exchange of ideas and points of view by all.
