Hunter’s Model UN Team Wins Big in Washington D.C.

The Hunter Model UN team has returned from its first conference of the year – in triumph! Held this November in Washington DC, the National Model UN Conference is one of the largest and most competitive conferences in the world for college level aspiring diplomats, and Hunter’s team garnered a multitude of awards, including the Outstanding Delegation award for its representation of Greece, and Distinguished Delegation for representing Libya. Hunter students were also cited for excellence in public policy, diplomacy, and negotiation.

Jason Abrams, the instructor for the school's Model UN course and faculty advisor for the team, pointed out that the team's stellar performance was in keeping with Hunter's long tradition of superior performance at Model UN conferences.  Abrams noted  that "Model UN helps students develop a whole variety of critical skills, including public speaking, writing, research and negotiation in a stimulating and fun setting."  Abrams himself is a lawyer with many years of experience as a United Nations and State Department official.

To take part in further conferences and events – like the National Model UN Conference in NYC in April, which hosts 5000 students – you can sign up for Hunter’s 3-credit course, POLSC 29401, offered in the Spring 2017 semester.
