National League Of Nursing Names Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing a Center Of Excellence

The National League for Nursing has announced that Hunter College’s School of Nursing in New York City is one of six schools of nursing selected to receive the organization’s Center of Excellence designation. Hunter, a first-time designee, was selected for “creating environments that enhance student learning and professional development.”

Annually since 2004, the NLN has invited nursing schools to apply based on their ability to demonstrate sustained excellence in faculty development, nursing education research, student learning and professional development. Schools also must have a proven commitment to continuous quality improvement. “These are large programs, small programs, and everything in between,” said Beverly Malone, RN, PhD, FAAN, CEO of the NLN. “Their common denominator is excellence in their particular area, and although they set the bar high for faculty and students in all schools of nursing, it is worth striving to join their ranks.”

Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing in Baltimore, Md.; Community College of Philadelphia, Department of Nursing; the Department of Nursing at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion; St. Xavier University School of Nursing in Chicago; and Villanova (Pa.) University College of Nursing also received COE designation.
