Professor Donna Nickitas Wins Top Prize in Nursing Education

Professor Donna Nickitas, a leading member of the faculty at the Hunter School of Nursing, has been named the recipient of the Mary Adelaide Nutting Award for Outstanding Teaching or Leadership in Nursing Education, one of nursing’s highest honors. 

The National League for Nursing will present Professor Nickitas with the award on October 2, at its Education Summit 2015 in Las Vegas. 

Professor Nickitas has taught at Hunter for more than 31 years. A widely recognized expert in health policy, service-learning, dissertation advisement and nursing administration, she also serves as executive officer of the Nursing PhD Program at the CUNY Graduate Center.   Since 2008, Professor Nickitas has been the editor of Nursing Economics, a journal advancing nursing leadership in health care.   In 2013, she was elected Distinguished Scholar and Fellow at the National Academies of Practice, a top adviser to governments on making improvements to health care delivery.  She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
