Hunter students Tina Zarbaliev '15 and Lin Que Ayoung '15 have won scholarships for the 2014/2015 academic year from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). Zarbaliev received the Donald & Eleanor Taffner Award and for the second year in a row Ayoung received the A&E Networks Award. Based on need and merit, the scholarships, worth $2500 and $5000 respectively, are given to high-achieving students pursuing media studies who are in at least their third year of college.

"It is really exciting," said Zarbaliev, who is pursuing a double major in Political Science and Media Studies. She plans to go on to produce films that portray strong female voices.

Ayoung has written and directed two short films, The Mirror and Committed, and has worked on six other short films as part of her course of study. "Words can't say how blessed I feel to be given this opportunity," said Ayoung. "To be supported by A&E, BAFTA New York, and Hunter College, is just an amazing feeling."
