COVID-19 Update
Hunter's Aphasia Group will continue offering only remote meetings in the fall semester until the Brookdale Campus re-opens. Please check this page after September 1, 2020 for any further updates.
The Hunter College Aphasia Group supports the communicative needs of those who have aphasia and other neurologically involved disorders. Attendance and membership in the group are free; the two hour meetings are held twice weekly on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons during the academic year. The following shows the schedule for Aphasia Group:
- Fall semester: 2-4 pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays, commencing the 3rd Tuesday in September and ending the 3rd Thursday of December
- Spring semester: 2-4 pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays, commencing the first Tuesday of February and ending the third Thursday of May
- Summer semester: 2-4 pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays, commencing the first Tuesday of June and ending the last Thursday of July
- There are no meetings during the month of August or the month of January, or when the college is closed for a holiday or break
The group format involves social interaction to improve communication of individuals with aphasia or other neurological disorders. The group is supervised by a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist, with students enrolled in the master's of science program in speech-language pathology.
